The Manhattan Kids Guide Winter Festival at the YM&YWHA Washington Heights and Inwood has come and gone. Despite a record breaking blizzard the event had excellent attendance. But then we expected no less of community oriented Northern NYC-ers. Please watch the 6 & 1/2 minute YouTube video of the happening below(which includes at the end the "Sammy Snowflake"
short film that premiered at the party.
As most of you know, the MKG Trick or Treat Tour parade created a lot of family buzz in our community with NY1's cameras on site, 4 articles in "The Manhattan Times" and a blurb in "Time Out New York".
And now we hope you've finished eating all of your leftover Halloween candy from the MKG Trick or Treat Tour because the time has come to announce our next free neighborhood event:
"The MKG Winter Festival: Holiday Indoor Picnic"
This event will be held on Sunday, December 20th at 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM
at our local YM & YWHA at 54th Nagle Avenue, New York, NY 10040
(just east of Broadway.
The Y is a wonderful resource with family activities,
a preschool and a senior center.
Thank you to the "Manhattan Kids Guide" mom who suggested holding the festival and picnic at YM&YWHA and to the other "Manhattan Kids Guide mom" whose idea it was in the first place to have a picnic as an event.
It's really exciting to see in motion the reality of how through participation by all of us in the Northern NYC Inwood Manhattan Washington Heights community we can create fun free things for our families and kids to do together! Please join us at the festival that will include a holiday prizes drawing for the kids.
Here's how we can all help to make the free Winter Festival a Big Success for our kids and seniors:
-- VOLUNTEERS to help plan or organize the event onsite.
-- TALENT to perform a 5 min. and under live act segment of kid friendly songs, stories, magic and more.
-- RECOMMENDATIONS for local businesses to participate by donating gifts and Kosher refreshments.
-- YOU to spread the word to your friends and neighbors young and young at heart because we want to fill this big beautiful bright space with as many of your smiling faces as we can!
Looking forward to seeing you and your families, friends and loved ones at the event and to hearing from you and how you'd like to participate in building our Northern NYC community!
